The Benefits of Playtime

Playtime has proven to be not only fun but educational for young children. It helps with social skills, speech development, fine motor which strengthens dexterity in the hands and finger muscles when playing with things like dolls, cars, playdough, etc. It also helps with gross motor skills which strengthens the arms, legs and cardiovascular system when doing things like jumping, running, climbing and crawling. Confidence, creativity and stress reduction are also benefits of children playing both alone as well as with others. So the next time your child(ren) are playing, try to pick out what skills they are developing or be a big kid and join them to reduce some stress!
